Reflection

On my 3 weeks of ESOL I've learned a lot about listening, spelling, and vocabulary. And what I really want to focus on is my grammar and vocabulary because I want to enhance the way I speak and write in English. I'm worried about more in my grammar in writing.

Goals for the year

Every single year I have the same goal: To make this year better than the last.
 I have six goals that I'd like to focus and improve on. They are;
  1. Aim for less daily screen time. I always check all my social media almost every single time and            I want to change that.
  2. Be more productive not reproductive.
  3. Learn to speak English more fluently.
4.Take a theory exam and start learning how to drive.
5.Learning and improving something that I'm not really good at which is cooking and
  6. Getting good grades. And make my parents proud.
I always believe in this quote that says "A goal is not always meant to be reached;it often serves simply as something to aim at."
Achieving our goals is great but that's not the most important thing about setting goals. The most important thing is the type of person that we become along the way.

Reading Response

Title of Book: Polynesian Dance Festival
Author: John Hart
Genre/Text Type:Narrative

Date Read: 19th February 2020

This text was about the festival dance of Polynesian. How they prepare their costumes and dances. I chose
to read this text because it was about festival dancing and I really enjoy watching festivals because it
excites me. Back in my country in the Philippines dancing is my passion too.

One interesting thing is how the boy leads their group, how they prepared their Tongan dance for the
festival, and they really look like professional dancers. A quote that shows this is “as the leader it was my
job to give the group confidence” This means that as a leader you should lead your group and give them
courage to feel confident dancing on stage, because as a leader it is your responsibility. This relates to me
because I was once a leader in our group, and leaders must be the model or the one who will guide your team.
and the feeling when you are on stage, and feel mixed emotions but you know in yourself that “we can do it!”
“I can do it!”.

I can relate to the main character’s because I also experience performing on stage, where there’s so many
people watching how well you performed, and how the dances went. When you are on stage the nervousness
you felt will just go away because of the excitement and the confidence in you.The character reminds me
of myself 2 years ago. Back when I was in high school when there’s an event in our school/place
I always led the group, teach them the steps and prepare our costumes for the event. and the interesting
part is when the crowd cheers for you and your team.

Blog Post : A news item that interests me

In December 2019 a virus that causes illness, hundreds of people died because of this virus and they called
it (2019-ncov) or corona-virus. It was first identified in the city of Wuhan, likely at a food market. It is
Transmitted between a person and animals.
Coughing, sneezing, touching or shaking hands or like touching an object with the virus on it can possibly
infect you. It’s rapidly spreading fast and affects a lot of countries and people. They don’t have a vaccine
for the virus yet. When the news reported it a lot of Filipino were scared and I heard in the news that the
Chinese authorities announced a temporary ban on travelers, especially those people who came from
China. Some countries have stopped accepting people from china. Even though the virus is less dangerous
than other viruses i think that we should be more cautious about it and listen to the news and be updated
of what’s going on around us. Therefore, the best thing that we can do now is to learn how to prevent it.
And always be prepared.
